Schadenfreude Engineer
Helping the Internet Get Its Shit Together Since '94
Podcast producer · Host · Editor
Internet veteran
Jason DeFillippo is what happens when a pioneer coder survives the dot-com shrapnel, turns a blog empire into a movement, and evolves into one of the most trusted voices in podcasting. A full-time producer, host, and editor with more than thirteen years behind the mic and over 3,000 episodes under his belt, Jason is the co-creator and co-host of Grumpy Old Geeks—one of the longest-running tech news podcasts.
Before podcasting went mainstream, Jason helped build the early internet—literally. He was the Head Website Programmer for Paramount Motion Pictures during the dawn of digital marketing, launching interactive campaigns for Mission: Impossible 2, Star Trek: First Contact, and Titanic—then the highest-grossing film in history. He later worked for ad agencies like BLT and David & Goliath, and his fingerprints are on campaigns for Disney, Universal, Sony, and pretty much every studio that mattered.
He's also the co-founder of Metroblogging, the world's first location-based citizen journalism network, pre-dating HuffPost and paving the way for hyperlocal media before that term existed. Add to that: founder of Blogrolling.com (acquired by Tucows), CTO of viral media startups, and lead engineer on early cloud-powered platforms like JPG Magazine and Metricly.
Jason has produced shows for the biggest names in business and creativity—Tim Ferriss, Jordan Harbinger, Chris Lochhead, Joi Ito, Rob Dyrdek, and Noah Kagan, to name a few. He's not just a podcast veteran—he's an audio insurgent.

"Jason is one of the best producers in podcasting, hands-down. The difference between a show that sounds good and a show that sounds great is whatever magic he's using after I hang up my headphones, and the difference between a real producer and someone who just edits audio files is night and day. If you've ever heard one of the larger interview podcasts, you've heard Jason's work. If the conversation sounded flawless, then you know he's left his mark."– Jordan Harbinger, Host of The Jordan Harbinger Show and formerly of The Art of Charm
"Jason has been an integral part of my show's success and knows both the tech and business inside out."– Tim Ferriss, Bestselling author and host of The Tim Ferriss Show
"Jason is my podcasting guru. No matter what question comes up he always has the easiest, most efficient and most effective solution at his finger tips. I trust him completely with the technical stuff, so I can focus on creating the best content."– Darya Pino Rose Ph.D, Author, neuroscientist, and host of The Foodist Podcast
"Jason has helped me on so many fronts, from podcast equipment selection to fixing my numerous recording errors. He's a rockstar and a true professional."– Kevin Rose, Founder of Digg, Diggnation, and host of The Kevin Rose Show
"Jason understands podcasting from content, to tech to distribution – soup to nuts. He's a great teacher – practical, technically accurate and fun. I can't imagine anyone better to learn from."– Joi Ito, Former Director, MIT Media Lab and host of Conversations with Joi Ito
"When I got into podcasting, I wanted to stand out and work with the best. When I asked around, one name kept popping up. Jason DeFillippo. Jason is the pro’s pro. He takes the stress out of all the tech stuff so I can focus on the talk stuff. Can’t recommend him enough if you’re serious about your podcast."– Dan “Nitro” Clark, Host of The Gladiator Way
"Jason DeFillippo is the GOAT – the Greatest podcast producer Of All Time. It’s not even close. Major media brands can’t make an Internet based podcast sound like Jason can. He makes us sound legendary."– Christopher Lochhead, Host of Follow Your Different & Lochhead on Marketing – #1 Apple Podcaster – #1 Amazon Author
